#196 new task

Script to add a new user

Reported by: juanramondiaz Owned by: somebody
Milestone: 1.0 Priority: normal

Description

I've just created this script so I don't have to use the users from another WordPress installation.

Usage: php add-new-user.php -u <username> -e <e-mail> [-p <password>]

Do you think that it could be useful to add to the trunk?

Is this something we want to add? I will test how well this works when using a custom user table.

Yes, because many GlotPress users will use GlotPress as a stand alone tool to help translate non-WordPress software. I suggest we add an admin page to register users/validators/admins (if a WP users table is detected, we could link to WP's user admin instead).

This ticket is talking about CLI command and not about a whole admin dashboard. I would love to see that but I also know it will take at least another year with the current manpower for this project.

But I do believe in making things like an admin infterface would help to gain more people to work on GlotPress. For now our focus is making it better for users/validators.

I would vote for this to be included in the project so that one can run GlotPress without the need of installing WordPress (until GlotPress becomes a plugin, but that would probably take some months).
